Obituary for John Paul Prytz

John Paul Prytz of Martinsburg entered the church Triumphant on June 2, 2021 at home with his wife at his bedside while under the care of Hospice.

He was 78, born October 2, 1942 in South Bend, Indiana, the son of Ernest Prytz, Sr., and Anita Prytz. He earned his Eagle Scout rank with the Boy Scouts. After graduating from Greene Township High School, he joined the U.S. Navy at age 17. He graduated from Cerritos College, California State University Los Angeles, and attended Shepherd University. He was an Enrolled Agent with the I.R.S. and worked in the banking and hotel fields.

John married Andrea Lee Howe Prytz on July 12, 1969. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Karin Ann Ricardo and partner, Shanyn of Hawaii, son Anthony Prytz, grandchildren, Kali Ricardo, Kane Ricardo and Kalena Ricardo, and proud great-grandfather of Halena. He is also survived by his brother, Ernest Prytz, Jr., sister, Carolyn, (Wendel) Lathrop of Washington State and nephew and niece.

He loved to travel, and he and Andrea visited all 50 states, Canada and Mexico. John was an animal advocate and loved his cat family. He spent hours doing crossword puzzles and loved to repair items. John was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Martinsburg.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Elmwood Cemetery in Shepherdstown, WV with a Hospice Chaplain officiating. Visitors will be required to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and follow directives.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
