Obituary for Vincent "Walt" Mason

Vincent (Walt) Mason, 60, died suddenly on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at INOVA Hospital in Fairfax, VA.

Born June 1, 1959 he was the son of Vincent Weidman Mason and Lucy Mae (Ramsburg) Mason who preceded him in death.

A lifelong resident of Berkeley County, Walt attended James Rumsey Vocational School. He was a member of the FFA. He graduated from HHS in 1977. Upon graduation, Walt went to work at O’Sullivan Corp. in Winchester, VA where he worked 28 years. From 2005- June 2019 he worked at Brentwood Industries in Martinsburg.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Diane (Zerby) Mason at home; daughter, Megan Mae Frick (husband Anthony); grandson, Abram who dearly loved his “Pap” who resides in Inwood, WV; sister, Venita Robinson (husband Donald); nephew, Christopher Robinson (wife Melissa), their son, Christopher II; nephew; Troy Robinson (wife Kristy), their two sons, Aaron Arnold and Logan all residing in Stephens City, VA; many extended relatives to numerous to name; also surviving is a longtime friend, Frank Boarman of San Diego, CA.

With farming in his blood, Walt raised a small herd of beef cattle for about 12 years with the help of his wife and daughter. He enjoyed planting and caring for his garden and reaping the harvest of his labor. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing and in 2009 began his venture as a beekeeper. He began teaching his beloved grandson the art of beekeeping 2 years ago. The two of them enjoyed a special bond. He will be sorely missed by all who loved him.

Family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Elder Edward Dinger from the Martinsburg Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses officiating.

Interment will be private.
