Obituary for Barbara Jean Mason (Funk)
Barbara Jean Funk Mason, 79, of Martinsburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Born May 4, 1942 in Berkeley County, she was the daughter of the late James Miller Funk and Martha Alametta McCarty Funk.
Barbara of was of the Protestant faith. She was employed by The Journal for over 20 years. She had a huge collection of cookbooks. She never missed her grandchildren’s sporting events. She loved her dog, Chloe.
She is survived by her husband of more than 52 years, Arthur “Art” Mason; two sons, James Raleigh Shriver of Woodstock, GA, son, Mark Andrew Mason of Martinsburg; one daughter, Jennifer “Jenni” Gail Stansberry (Dave), of Hagerstown, MD; two stepsons, Dennis Todd Mason of Black Shear, GA and Michael Wayne Mason of Martinsburg; one stepdaughter, Pamela Lynn Mason Williams of Martinsburg; three sisters, Martha Frye (Ronnie), Sharon Cooper (Richard) and Connie Dehaven (Rick); six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one stepson, Gerald Randolph Mason.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Jones officiating.
Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
