Obituary for David Lerory Collis

David Leroy Collis, 82, of Bunker Hill passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Berkeley Medical Center.

Born April 20, 1938 in Falling Waters, he was the son of the late David Oscar Collis and Blanch Amanda Kelly Collis.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Inwood, and the American Legion Post #14.

He proudly served over twenty years with the US Army, serving in Hawaii, Italy, Vietnam, and Germany during his tours. After his Army career, he was a service manager with Mobile Homes for over 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Peggie Ann Cain Collis; son, Michael L. Collis and wife, Sandra M., of Bunker Hill; daughter Robin L. Reynolds and husband, John R., of Inwood; five grandchildren, Shaun, Lauren, Christopher, Kristen, Dylan; four great-grandchild, Maziar, Layla, Wyatt, and Cadence; two brothers, Curtis E. Collis and Gary “Peanut” Collis, both of Bunker Hill; and three sisters, Betty J. Hull of Bedington, Shirley I Jenkins and Phyllis J. Barrett, both of Bunker Hill.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger L. Collis, and Melvin D. Collis.

The Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood will be open for family to receive friends only from the hours of 10:30AM to 12:30PM on Thursday, July 9, 2020 followed by a funeral service with Pastor Devin Ward, and Pastor Joshua Marsh officiating. Military graveside service at Bunker Hill Cemetery. Visitors will be required to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and follow directives.
